I'm not an engineer nor a mechanical designer for these sketches so I could not do structural calculations, ergonomic studies or simulations. Think of it as a concept, partly because the concept of construction is complex and perhaps unlikely.
CHASSIS:
The idea comes from an old project for a sport bike but it is probably the best application on a bike of this kind, even if they ignore the real economic and technical feasibility. (I will steal that idea soon I guess ...) I thought
to eliminate the concept of a single frame of thinking about cycling, but as a collection of individual pieces that together form a structure (Style Bimota Tesi). This idea would, in my view completely disassemble the bike into individual pieces easily carried beyond the proper folding mechanism (which I did anyway). This would make the bike easily and ships "stockabile.
The structure consists of five main elements:
1 - A single arm front fork unamortized
2 - A sub-frame
3 - The central frame
4 - The single arm swinging back
5 - Support for cushioning and reinforced
The central frame is the heart of the structure and how all the other elements (perhaps the backing could be done in tubes) is constructed in a particular way: it is 2 shells machined from solid aluminum (but perhaps it would be better printed in carbon) with reduced thickness and glued (or screwed) to each other like two walnut shells, the outside would be an aesthetic part, the inside (slot) would be interesting to use it to house the seat and steering rods (the latter in the sub-frame) when the bike is folded, or to contain an electric motor with its batteries. The frame is connected to the central sub-frame (also with the cable tube) through a rotary joint that would allow my intention, to rotate the front of almost 180 °.
The front wheel on the left side is managed by a single arm cable (Consisting of one half, however, not only by two shells), also made of aluminum (as well as in tubes) are not amortized.
I own a bike and I noticed the same kind that are very hard to drive, I thought for this reason it amortized over the back wheel, so I got both hands from the motorcycle world by drawing a single arm (right side, also in aluminum , but without the half-shell cable only speculation, as the front monoforcella) that works with a support structure connected to the main frame at two points by a small shock detached from the main frame.
All About
730mm diameter wheels with tires mounted about 420mm
Some proportions in the drawings may be skipped in the development of the idea, but only slightly!
BENDING:
Designed in this way, the bike can be removed completely, but in my opinion is feasible also a good way of folding ...
In table 2 shows the procedure of folding in an approximate way. It is not a real mechanical simulation!
1 - In Section 1 of the barrels of steering and seat were covered in the frame completely
2 - Release the joint, half a bike wheel on itself by nearly 180 °
3 - is released under the seat cushion
4 - Removing the front wheel (quick release) and compressing the fork until the interference with the area riding the bike is then bent at all.
This is a small project concept is still being requested by a customer that I authorized the publication.
developments will come ...
